High Performance Computing (HPC) is one of today’s most important priorities., and the European Commission (EC) acknowledged this priority through several initiatives targeting the development of an ambitious and competitive HPC strategy. At the country side, Luxembourg Government is pushing to be a key enabler for this strategy and the UL HPC is sustaining this effort, for instance by actively participating to the following projects:
Today, a new crucial step has been reached in the gouvernemental priority aiming at accelerating the development of world-class HPC technologies in Luxembourg.
From its reputation and national expertise in the HPC and Big Data domains, the University of Luxembourg receiving the support from all public research centres in Luxembourg, has been chosen by the ministry to represent the country within PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe). The official UL Delegate (Prof. Pascal Bouvry) and Advisor (Dr. Sebastien Varrette) were present at the 27th PRACE Council meeting where the application of Luxembourg received an unanimous approval !
This implements a new step in the gouvernemental priority aiming at accelerating the development of world-class HPC technologies in Luxembourg. As an organisation which carries out significant research and development activities and expertise in the field of HPC technology in Europe, our ambition is to help and contribute to the deployment of reference HPC environments in Europe. Count on us to keep you updated in the advances within PRACE2 and make the voice of Luxembourg effective, efficient and sound ;)
