High Performance Computing (HPC) is one of today’s most important priorities. Needless to say that we are of course convinced of this fact, but (more importantly), the European Commission (EC) acknowledged this priority through several initiatives enabling the development of an ambitious and competitive HPC strategy. One of them is the European Technology Platform for High Performance Computing Association (ETP4HPC), an industry-led think tank and advisory group of companies and expert research centers involved in High-Performance Computing or Supercomputing technology research in Europe. ETP4HPC is also the EC’s partner in the contractual Public-Private Partnership on HPC (cPPP on HPC) entered into force in January 2014 to develop an ambitious R&I strategy called Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) supported by a €700 M investment by the EC.
In May 25th, 2016, the University of Luxembourg, represented by the UL HPC Team, has joined ETP4HPC as Full Member. As an organisation which carries out significant research and development activities and expertise in the field of HPC technology in Europe, our ambition is to help and contribute to the definition of the European R&D HPC strategy i.e. outline a roadmap for the implementation of European exascale capabilities. It will also help us to keep you informed of these developments.
